Complete dual-sided UX for crypto payouts, enabling businesses to pay employees and contractors in cryptocurrency while giving recipients control over token selection and wallet destinations.
01. Problem
Businesses needed to pay employees and contractors in crypto but lacked payroll infrastructure. While companies could process payments if recipients were BitPay merchants, there was no streamlined way for employers to distribute crypto compensation to their workforce.
The market had very few crypto payroll solutions, creating a significant gap for companies wanting to offer cryptocurrency payments to employees.
02. Solution
I designed a dual-sided system where businesses invite employees to receive crypto payouts through BitPay accounts. Companies control payout amounts while recipients choose their preferred cryptocurrency and wallet addresses. The flow requires users to complete KYC verification and assumes existing wallet familiarity.
The invitation system bridges the gap between business payment needs and individual crypto preferences, giving both sides appropriate control over their respective domains.
03. Process
I designed for two distinct user types with different needs - businesses managing payroll distributions and individuals receiving payments. The complexity required creating seamless handoffs between business invitation flows and recipient acceptance/setup processes.
I focused the experience on users who already have crypto wallets, streamlining the setup for cryptocurrency-familiar recipients while ensuring businesses could easily manage multiple recipient invitations.
04. Impact
Created one of the few comprehensive crypto payroll solutions in the market, filling a significant gap for businesses wanting to compensate employees in cryptocurrency. The dual-sided design enables companies to modernize their payment methods while giving recipients full control over their crypto preferences and destinations.
